Acer Aspire One
If you're considering the purchase of the Acer Aspire One then first a word of caution. There are two models of this machine, a budget model running the linux operating system and a more heavily specced windows xp version which costs 50% more. This review focuses on the Acer Aspire One with windows xp.
The Aspire One netbook is equipped with a 1.6ghz Atom processor courtesy of intel, 120gb hard drive and 512mb of ram. It weighs just 1.1kg and enjoys an 8.9 inch super tft screen with a resoluton of 1024 x600 which should avoid the need to scroll horizontally when browsing the web.
Acer Aspire One Positives
One of the better keyboards available the keys being big enough to enable you to type comfortably something that has caused us problems on other models.
Hard drive capacity more than big enough to cope with the demands required of a laptop of this type.
Acer Aspire One Negatives
Battery life is ok at 144 minutes but this has been surpassed by some other manufacturers. The similary priced Asus Eee PC 904 HD offering 250 mins for example.
Acer Aspire One Conclusion
Not the best netbook that money can buy but it does enjoy an excellent keyboard, screen and scores highly on usability. It has a lot going for it. We'd score it at 70%
