Asus Eee PC 701

The Eee PC 701 was really the first of what has become globally known as netbooks. It has small 7.1 inch TFT screen, solid state drive and is equipped with the Linnux OS, Open Office and a host of other useful applications.

Massively portable weighing in at just 940g it has been responsible for a mini revolution. Things have moved on but it represents superb value for money and, as far as we are aware, is till the cheapest netbook around.

The main disadvantages compared to its more expensive brethren are a battery life of around 2 hours and a screen resolution of just 800x400 which means that when browsing the web it is often necessary to scroll horizontally as well as vertically.

Not withstanding these issues the Asus Eee PC 701 is a brilliant machine representing superb value for money.
