Asus Eee PC S101

At the time of writing (Nov 08) this is the top of the range Netbook offering from ASUS. It comes equipped with the netbook standard Intel Atom processor which is perhaps a little disappointing at this price point. It features a 16gb solid state drive and 1gb of RAM. The PC S101 weighs in at an excellent 1.1kg and is fitted with an excellent 10.2 inch TFT screen running at a resolution of 1024x600. On the surface then it doesn't seem too different to some of its cheaper rivals.

What we'd like to see improved:

Storage capacity is on the low side. It is effectively 32gb as the pack includes a 16gb SD HC card but we can't help thinking a more traditional hard disk may have been a better choice.

Asus Eee PC S101 Conclusion

The idea behing the original netbook was its pricing point as much as its portability . This machine moves away from that ideal having a premium price. However, it's difficult to argue that this is a bad thing as this is without doubt the best netbook we have seen to date. We'd score it 85%.
